Bolgatanga, Aug 3, GNA - Former assembly members have appealed to political parties and activists to guard against any utterances that might cause more pain to the people following the death of President John Atta Mills.

The Association of Former Assembly Members in Bolgatanga made the appeal in a statement copied to the GNA and signed by Mr Noble Alagskoma, the Interim Chairman of the Association.

The statement described late President Mills as tolerant and humble and never reacted to the several insults heaped on him.

It stressed the importance of peace before, during and after the forthcoming general elections and said this could only be achieved if leaders of political parties guide against their utterances and continue to educate their members to stay away from acts of violence.

The Association expressed condolences to Mrs Naadu Mills and congratulated President John Mahama on his appointment.
