Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo has asked for this year's Homowo festival to be observed solemnly in honour of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

With some persons asking for the postponement of all regional festivals until the burial of former president Mills, the regional minister said he will meet with the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs on how to celebrate this year's festival calmly, so it will not be disrespectful to the departed president and in relation to their custom.

Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo who was speaking on Adom TV on Thursday asked the Ga's to limit the celebration to their homes and without the accompanying noise as has been the norm.

Responding to the issues raised by some Ga chiefs who are unhappy with the burial date set for the late President, Nii Laryea said his office is yet to receive any such complaints from the chiefs adding, “anybody with concerns with the date should visit his office.”
