Accra, July 28, GNA - Ghana's first mobile operator, Tigo, is the largest gainer in the Mobile Number Portability introduced by the National Communications Authority (NCA) a year ago.

According to statistics from the NCA, a total of 370,107 mobile numbers had been moved between networks by their owners within a year with Tigo gaining 68,000.

Commenting on the gains made in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency by the Tigo Ghana on Saturday, the Head of Marketing at Tigo, Tenu Awoonor, stated that this was a clear manifestation of the “exceptional quality of service we offer our customers.”

Mr. Awoonor added that “We believe that this success has been as a result of the tremendous benefits we offer consumers, some of which include quality network operation, lower tariffs, product bonuses, unlimited internet accesses and credits that last longer which results in enhanced value for money to all Tigo users.”

Mobile Number Portability is a permanent system, which allows Ghanaian mobile customers to move from one mobile service provider to another whilst retaining their existing number.

Mobile customers who wish to change networks without changing their number need only bring their mobile phone (with SIM) and an ID to a shop or agent of the network they wish to join.

“Tigo has been in operations since 1991 and remains the most preferred mobile network with quality products and services based on affordability, accessibility and availability.”

Some of Tigo's products and services include Tigo SOS, Tigo cash , Tigo Life Insurance, Tigo Voice SMS, IDD calls, Free night calls, ring-back-tones amongst many others.
