MTN Foundation donates to Ada Traditional Council

Ada (GAR), July 28, GNA – The MTN Ghana Foundation on Friday donated some gifts and a cheque of 5,000 Ghana Cedis to the Ada Traditional Council in support of the 75th Asafotufiame Festival celebration.

The items includes 50 footballs, 100 MTN Sim Cards, a drink of Hamper, MTN Souvenirs and 100 Ghana Cedis worth of recharge cards.

Mr Samuel Adjei-Sah, Senior Manager for Southern Business District of MTN, said since 2007, the Foundation was focusing on enriching lives through investment in health, education and economic empowerment.

He said in honour of the event, MTN was proud to announce their support for one project in any of the Foundation's key areas which would be agreed on by the Festival planning committee, the Traditional council and MTN Foundation.

Mr Adjei-Sah said MTN will also support the organization of activities like the Grand Durban, Community health walk and screening, Regatta, Community football gala and MTN chill zone and expressed the hope that the support would help the celebration.

“MTN would continue to give back to communities through CSR and commercial promotions and would encourage all to patronize MTN's numerous product and services.

“An attractive Akwaaba package awaits all those who are yet to join the MTN network within the next 120 days and new subscribers will enjoy the first minute of calls initiated daily for free”.

Mr Adjei-Sah said MTN recognizes the importance of the Chieftaincy institutions in Ghana and will continue to support and complement the roles of the institution in the society.

He said MTN recently introduced some new services including the MTN 1188 Directory Service which provides the contact information of over 30, 000 institutions and companies in the country saying “by dialling 1188, one can have access to company's phone details within a minute.

Mr Jonathan Dokutso, Spokesman of the Ada Traditional Council, said they were expecting over 30, 000 participants in this year's celebration saying “this donation would help the Traditional Council in the celebration.”

He thanked MTN Foundation for their continuous support to the Ada Traditional Council and appealed to other institutions to emulate the example of the Foundation.

Mr Dokutso also called on Ghanaian politicians to desist from using intemperate language and statements that had the tendency to destroy the peace Ghana was enjoying.
