If the rumours I hear in the tech space are anything to be reckoned with, online payment king “PayPal” is set to roll out its activities in Nigeria in the coming days/weeks.
Over the years there has been a continuous uproar over the continuous snub of payment platform “PayPal” in adding Nigeria to their available countries, but all this had turned on deaf ears
PayPalis one of the world's largest payment processors, and is currently available in over 190 countries, and over 40 African countries including Eritrea, Djibouti, Gambia, Togo, Mauritius, Mali, Chad and Tanzania, among others. But Nigeria is conspicuously absent from the list.
It has been argued that Nigeria has the largest internet penetration in Sub-Saharan Africa of over 50 million active users (out of a population of 160 million), and the second largest economy in Africa, behind that of South Africa.
Nigeria also has a lot of budding enterprises such as iROKOtv.com, DealDey, Kasuwa, Sabunta,Konga amongst others, and if there's any opportunity for PayPal to thrive in Africa, Nigeria should be at the forefront of their activities.
I have particularly noted that PayPal is available on iROKOtv.com, but it only works for people in other countries outside Nigeria, and it remains to say if pressure from these new online businesses in Nigeria has finally got the guys at PayPal to bring their platform to Nigeria. I hope we see this soon.

It has been a stupid policy encouraged only by their dominant status. The listing of Nigeria among emerging economic giants is exposing their foolishness more and more.
