DR. PAA KWESI Nduom, Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) was almost in tears recently over what he claimed was the undesirable level of poverty that had engulfed a larger section of the populace.

He said he had seen poverty at the highest level across the country during his recent national campaign tour seeking voter support towards the December general elections.

According to him, abject poverty currently abounds in most places in the country, lambasting the NDC government for doing nothing to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking on the 'Adwenkyere' programme aired on Kessben Fm in Kumasi, he jabbed Minister of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor for deceiving the public about the real state of Ghana's economy.

Contrary to Dr. Duffuor's claims that the economy was on the right track, the PPP presidential candidate observed that the economy was in tatters and Ghana's future looked bleak.

He said the NDC government's claims that it had improved the fortunes of the country were a hoax, citing the free fall of the cedi to support his claim.

Dr. Nduom who said he knew a lot when it came to economic issues, disclosed that inflation had been rising lately, adding   that Ghana's reserves had also been falling rapidly.

'I know a lot about economics and Ghana's economy is not making any progress,' he said urging the public not to believe the lies being peddled by the NDC, notably Dr. Duffuor that everything was well.

The PPP presidential candidate, who did not looked pleased about the situation, bemoaned that poverty was on the rise in many places like Wulensi and Kukuom.

He said 'you will be shocked about the level of poverty and hardships that are facing majority of the people of the country,' adding that sometimes it was hard to believe that such poverty existed in Ghana.

Dr. Nduom who claimed his political party had answers to the countless problems facing the country said nothing but severe hardship had been the order of the day since the NDC administration took over political power in 2009.
