Nii Lantey Vanderpuije Launches Campaign Today
All roads in the nation's capital will be leading to the Odododiodio Constituency today as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, launches his campaign to retain the seat for the ruling party come this December.
The occasion is expected to be graced by the National Executive members of the party, officials of the government as well as party supporters and members.
The Constituency, formerly called Accra Central Constituency, is usually a hot-bed of political activities. Election experts also believe that it is a swing constituency with no one party having the monopoly over it. As a result, it has had both NDC and NPP politicians representing it in parliament. The current MP is the NDC's Nii Tackie Commey.
However, with the NDC being represented by Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, victory for the ruling party is a foregone conclusion. The ace Sports Commentator and Public Relations expert commands so much support in the constituency that his main rival, the NPP's Capt (rtd) Victor Okaikoi does not seem to have even a dog's chance to win the seat. This may explain the purported plot by the National Executives of the NPP to replace him with Nii Ayi Bonte, a one time MP for the consituency.
