Nana Akufo Addo’s corruption-free public record blossoms again! (Part 1)

Nana Akufo Addos corruption-free public record blossoms again! Part 1
18.07.2012 LISTEN

The “exceedingly revealing” press conference by the Ministry of Information has strengthened Nana Akufo Addo's corruption-free public record. This was a press conference that was hyped by Deputy Information Minister, Okudjeto Ablakwa. He used arguably the best Saturday morning news analysis program in Ghana, News File on Joy fm and Multi TV to announce the press conference.

The young deputy minister promised a press conference that will “shock” the whole nation. And that this is something that has been kept away from worthy sons and daughters of this nation. Since the scam involving judgment debts came public, Okudjeto and his colleagues have been on a political equalization crusade. This Mills-Mahama government has been caught red handed in the broad day light scam. They have sworn to drag others to join them. Their target is the New Patriotic Party. Let us not be oblivious of the fact that judgment debts have been paid by almost all governments. The point of contention is with fraudulent judgment debt payments and settlements. This NDC government has proven to have appetite for paying fraudulent claims with our meager resources.

The promised time came 16th July, 2012 at 2pm. The “exceedingly revealing” press conference turned out to be “exceedingly disappointing”. The press conference was addressed by the two young deputy information ministers, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa and James Agyenim Boateng. The duo has been described to as “Aki nar Porpor”. The substantive Minister of Information, Hon. Fritz Baffuor was the Master of Ceremony (MC) for the event. The cabinet minister was reduced to the MC for the show while his two young deputies dribbled him around. Interestingly, Mr. Baffuor is a retired comedian too. What a perfect cast at the Ministry of Information.

While Mr. Ablakwa read the press statement proper, Mr. Boateng read the two purported letters authored by Nana Akufo Addo. Ghanaians including NDC members were “exceedingly shocked” the press conference did not achieve the political equalization objective. The government spokespersons admitted Nana Akufo Addo did nothing wrong. However, they did not miss the opportunity insult political opponents. The press conference was empty, nothing for serious minds to deliberate on. Governance in Ghana has been reduced to a joke. The weakness in leadership in Ghana is the cause for this comedy.

Since the NDC government took over power in 2009, there have been several secret commissions and forensic audit teams to investigate the ministries Nana Akufo-Addo headed. Up until this day, nothing has come up. Nana Akufo Addo's public record is clean. This is a man who did not receive even travel allowances through-out his tenure as Minister. Do not forget Akufo Addo was Foreign Affairs Minister and his work involved travelling. This has not been trumpeted by the NPP because that gesture was not for propaganda purpose. That was selfless public service.

I thank “Aki nar Porpor” and the retired comedian for organizing the “exceedingly revealing” press conference that has shown Nana Akufo-Addo is a man of clean public records. I am not sure President Mills can be credited with same. Prof. Mills has made the nation lose millions of dollars. Apart from the recent Woyome saga, I readily recall Ms. J.R. Cotton's Quality Grain scandal. Ghana lost $22Million to the beautiful American lady. As Vice President, Prof. Mills had direct oversight responsibility over the project. To be continued…

Watch out for the part two of this article.
I LOVE GHANA
