GNFS personnel asked to be positive additions to resource base

Accra, July 13, GNA - Mr Kobby Akyeampong, Deputy Minister of the Interior advised graduates of the Fire Academy Training School, to be positive addition to the human resource base of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

He urged recruits not to rest on their oars but rather endeavour to work hard to project the image of the service.

Mr Akyeampong gave the advice during the 44th Passing out Parade of GNFS, in Accra on Friday where 300 recruits comprising 199 males and 101 females graduated.

He commended the service for their professional role in the recent plane crash involving the First Allied cargo plane.

He stressed: “The service plays vital role in preventing undesirable fire and destruction of the country's valuable investments in the area of agricultural, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, hospitality, health and the educational sector of the economy.”

The sector Minister said, to make the work of the operational fire-fighters easier and less hazardous, 125 fire tenders, four turn table, four towing vehicles and 42 units of double cabin pickups have been provided by the Government.

He said Government would continue to provide all necessary equipment for the effectiveness operations of the service.

Mr Isaac Amoah Danso, was adjudged the Overall Recruit, while the Ms Carlen Naa Adjeley Adjei was best in Foot Drill was also awarded to Carlen Naa Adjeley Adjei, whilst the Commandant Award went to Ms Amanda Marshall Abena.
