The Bank of Ghana has announced it would soon introduce new 50 Cedis notes onto the market with a set of new features.
This the Central Bank says is to prevent fraudsters from producing counterfeits of the currency.
The announcement was made by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Monday when he met some journalists.
According to the Central Bank the new note will have a new set of features from the existing one but the colour would practically be the same.
The Governor said two people have been arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for attempting to produce counterfeit of the 50 Cedis notes.
Reports say some foreign companies are behind the syndicate.
