Chirano Mines gets new General Manager

Etwebo (W/R), July 4, GNA - Mr. Kenneth Norris, an international mining professional has been appointed as the new General Manager of Chirano Gold Mines Limited with effect from July 1, 2012.

Mr Norris takes over from Mr John Seaward, who having served the Chirano Gold Mines Limited for the past seven years, retired from active service on June 30, 2012 and has since returned to Australia.

Mr Norris a native of Canada has over 15 years of experience in mining and has worked at senior leadership levels in remote locations around the world, including Africa.

He is fluent in English, French and Spanish and has extensive experience in building strong community relations in diverse locations including Spain, Algeria, Burkina Faso and Nicaragua.

Until recently, he was Vice-President; in charge of Project Development at Stone gate Agricom, where he led the feasibility study for an underground phosphate mine and the development of two phosphate rock projects in Peru and Idaho, USA.

Prior to this role, Mr. Norris was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Minas de Aguas Teñidas S.A. in Huelva, Spain, and managed the completion and commissioning of a 300 million dollars Greenfield underground mine and processing facility.

He was also COO at GMA Resources, where he led the feasibility study, financial evaluation, design and construction of an open pit gold heap leach project located in Southern Algeria.

Mr. Norris joined Kinross Gold Corporation on May 17th 2012.
