Farmers urged to put advice given them into practice

Kwamosu(E/R), July 4, GNA -The Akuapem North Municipal Crops Officer of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Mr Michael T. Kwabla, has called on farmers to abide by all the practices taught them in the planting of the hybrid maize seeds.

He was speaking at field day at the maturity stage of new hybrid maize seeds distributed by Agricserv, which were planted by members of the Kwamosu branch of 4H-Ghana, a youth organization made up of young women below 25 years.

The farmers who were selected from different farming communities in the Akuapem North Municipal Area were brought to the farm to observe and to share experiences.

Mr Kwabla advised farmers planting hybrid seeds to buy new seeds anytime they wanted to plant because if they replant the grains they had harvested, they would not be harvesting any crop.

The Executive Director of 4H-Ghana, Mr Kweku Boateng, said the aim of 4H-Ghana was to introduce young Ghanaian farmers to new seeds and farming technology that would make them to harvest high yields and make more money.

He said the local representative of Dupon-Pioneer Seeds of USA Agricserv, was ready to provide hybrid seeds.
