Apire (Ash), July 3, GNA – The Cherubs Children's Home at Apire in Kumasi have received 20 bags of cement and confectionaries worth GH¢ 800 from the Kwadaso Zone of the National Tailors and Dress Makers Association.

Members of the association interacted with the children and celebrated Republic Day with them.

Mr Yussif Daud, the Chairman of the Association, said the donation was part of their social responsibility to help improve the lives of the needy and under privileged in society.

Mr Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Director and Founder of the Home, said the Orphanage was established in 2005 with nine children but the number has now increased to 100.

He said the Children's Home takes care of abandoned, orphaned and street children, until they are grown enough to take care of themselves.

Mr Bonsu called on the government to open a school in Apire so that the children would not have to travel long distances to other towns to attend school.
