Glo partners MTV Base to bring the 'big friday' show to Ghanaian entertainment lovers

Accra, June 28, GNA - Entertainment fans in Ghana and the rest of Africa are in for a huge treat as telecommunications giant operator Globacom and entertainment powerhouse MTV Base join forces on the hit television show, The Big Friday Show Serving up a weekly slice of vibrant West African youth culture.

The Big Friday Show has already won legions of fans, thanks to its fast-paced mash-up of music, celebrity appearances, pranks, spoofs, and celebrity and fans interaction.

Hosted by popular comedian and Globacom ambassador, Basketmouth, The Big Friday Show feature SMS and MMS trivia/competitions and prize-winning opportunities for Glo subscribers in Ghana, Nigeria and Benin Republic.

Last Friday, June 22, Ghanaians were privileged to watch live on VIASAT TV the first edition of Glo Presents The Big Friday Show which featured an exclusive interview with P-Square as they talked about their recent collaboration with Rick Ross.

Nigerian comedian Bovi made an appearance via satellite from Houston, Texas, talking about the growing international appeal of African comedy, others were Banky W, Wizkid and Skales.

Under the new Glo-MTV Base partnership, The Big Friday Show will offer even more interactivity than before, including the chance for viewers to meet and interview the celebrity guest of the week and appear on the show in person.

Viewers in Ghana, Nigeria and Benin may suggest celebrities they'd like to see interviewed on the show, and to send questions to their favourite celebrity by SMS or MMS to get their questions answered directly on the show.

Glo subscribers in Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin will additionally have the opportunity to win prizes including weekly recharge cards, Glo jet-speed internet modems, high-end Blackberry handsets and Glo SIMs.

The Big Friday Show offers viewers an opportunity to prank their friends by sending in their home videos by MMS or by uploading onto Facebook; the funniest clips will be played on the show.

The overall best prank clip will stand a chance to win a grand prize of ,000 at the end of the series.

He said the show was designed primarily for the urban fun-loving and tech-savvy youth, and that Globacom regarded the youth as a pearl to be celebrated.

Millions of viewers across sub-Saharan Africa will be able to watch The Big Friday Show every Friday night on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322), ViaSat 1 (Ghana) STV (Nigeria) and ORTB (Benin).

The one-hour programme will air every Friday at 18:00 WAT on Silverbird and at 19:30 WAT on MTV Base.
