THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS NDC WASHINGTON METRO CHAPTER ELECT NEW EXECUTIVES
24.06.2012 LISTEN

The Washington Metro Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the U.S.A has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years. The Washington Metro branch of the NDC is the oldest overseas branches and the first of all the NDC branches in the U.S. The branch has been very instrumental in the campaign activities of the NDC over the years. Notably in the 2008 campaign, the Washington Metro branch played a crucial role in organizing forums for discussing national issues.

The swearing-in ceremony also coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of the NDC party. Many members and sympathizers of the party thronged to the Takoma Park meeting venue of the Washington Metro chapter to celebrate this milestone and to show their support and solidarity for the party.

The election itself was very keenly but peaceful contested with candidates conducting themselves in ways that speak volumes of their political maturity and the cordiality that is needed for strengthening a mammoth organization such as the NDC. Those elected, according to the new regulations on tenure, will steer the affairs of the party for the next two years, as opposed to the current tenure of four -year term.
