OTTAWA, Canada, June 21, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“Canada is deeply concerned by the escalating violence that has claimed the lives of scores of Nigerians and has injured many others.
“We condemn in the strongest terms those who carried out such cowardly, vicious and senseless attacks on innocent civilians, most notably in places of worship.
“We stand with the Nigerian people and their government in opposing terrorism in all its forms.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those killed in these attacks, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
