Mobile Zone presents package to SWAG Sports Personality of the Year

Accra, June 20, GNA – Mobile Zone Ghana Limited, dealers in Techno Phones and Electronics on Wednesday presented 1000 Ghana cedis plus a products package to Ajara Mohammed, Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sports Personality of the Year 2011.

The package worth GHC 3000 includes a Techno-branded 32-inch Plasma TV, Mobile Phone and GHC 1,000 is to encourage the disabled athlete to give-off her best in future competitions.

Kuuku Afraku, Operations Manager of Mobile Zone Ghana Limited said the gesture is to motivate Ajara, who currently serves as a role model to disabled athletes and other persons in society.

He urged other companies to emulate the gesture to support efforts at ecognising talent development across the country.

Ackah Anthony, SWAG President commended the electronics distributors for their kind gesture, which he said will go a long way to encourage other sportsmen and women to strive for laurels.

Ajara made history by becoming the first disabled athlete to win the topmost award in the 37-year history of the annual event at the Awards Gala held on June 9 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

She was accompanied by Patrick Obeng, Male Athlete of the Year and Francis Adjetey Sowah, Chairman of the Year.

Ajara thanked SWAG and Techno Phones for recognising her potential and awarding her accordingly and prayed that such support and recognition will be accorded other disabled persons who aspire in their various fields of endeavour.
