UCC Signs MOU With ICAG
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Chartered Accountants-Ghana (ICAG) to give further exemptions to post MBA (Accounting) and M.Com (Accounting) graduates of the School of Business.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole, signed on behalf of the UCC while the President of the ICAG, Joseph F. Odartey Blankson, and the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kwasi Asante, signed for ICAG.
The event has made UCC the first university in the country to sign a MoU with the ICAG at that level.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Dean of the School of Business, Mr E. Marfo-Yiadom, said the School of Business had over the years developed good relations with the ICAG.
“For this reason, after extensive discussions, the ICAG Council agreed to sign the MoU with UCC to offer MBA/MCom graduates further exemptions up to Part 3 of ICAG Chartered Accountant (CA) professional examination,’’ he said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that the MoU was a test of faith and a mark of merit of the School of Business’ programmes.
She described the collaboration as a public-private partnership that allowed academic values to thrive, adding that “it should spur us on to greater achievements.”
Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude to ICAG for the recognition accorded UCC.
She paid glowing tribute to the dean, lecturers, administrative staff and pioneers of the School of Business for their meritorious contribution towards the growth of the school.
For his part, Mr Odartey Blankson stated that the Institute aimed at training competent accountants for sustained growth of the economy and was therefore optimistic that the collaboration would yield positive results.
