Ashaiman Court fines 18 motorbike riders

Ashaiman (GAR), June 20, GNA – The Ashaiman Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service has arraigned 18 motorbike riders for violating the Road Traffic Regulations.

The offenders who appeared before the Ashaiman Circuit Court were arrested as part of the measures put in place by the MTTU to ensure road traffic discipline in the Municipality.

The riders were arrested for various offences including riding motor bikes without protective helmets, riding unregistered and uninsured motor bikes and causing road obstruction.

The fines range from GH¢ 300 to GH¢ 600.
Chief Superintendent David Eklu, Divisional Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that road traffic regulations would be strictly enforced without favour.

“The Ashaiman Divisional Command will continue this operation until sanity prevails within the Municipality,” he stressed.
