Sunyani, (B/A) Aug. 31, GNA - The Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) in Sunyani has arrested one Kwabena Oduro, a 21-year old unemployed for defiling a nine-year-old pupil at Kenten, near Techiman in Brong-Ahafo. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alex Yartey Tawiah, head of WAJU confirmed the story when contacted by the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.
He said the accused and the victim lived in the same vicinity at Kenten and on August 21, this year, the girl attended "nature's call" at a public toilet near the accused's house.
On her return, Oduro, who was standing in front of his room invited her into his room and forcibly had sex with her, after which he warned her not to tell anybody.
ASP Tawiah said the victim, who could not endure the pain after the act informed her parents and her father, Mr. Kwabena Oba, quickly reported to the police who issued the victim with a medical form to attend hospital where she was admitted for five days.
ASP Tawiah said the case was transferred to Sunyani WAJU for further investigations.
Oduro admitted the offence on his arrest and told the police in his statement that he did so under the influence of alcohol and swore never to do that again.
He said the accused would be put before court by Monday, September 1.
