Essipong, June 16, GNA – The four-day Western Regional Policy Fair aimed at projecting the region's resources and socio-economic achievements attained under the NDC administration, ended on Saturday with a durbar, which displayed the nation's rich culture.

Chiefs and queenmothers from the 17 districts of the region dressed in rich kente cloth and traditional beads, attended the ceremony, which rounded off the fair while most invited guests wore Northern smock (fugu).

Government institutions displayed their products while the 17 district assemblies exhibited pictures depicting programmes and projects, including road construction, schools, and markets undertaken during their term of administration.

The fair brought governance to the doorsteps of the people as some of them, including students had the opportunity to express their concerns on development issues of the region for consideration by the Government.

Dialogue sessions dwelt on the economy, tourism, culture and the environment.

The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, noted that the Government has proven to be reliable in the management of the nation's resources to satisfy the needs of the people.

Mr Aidoo in a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Western Regional Minister, Madam Emelia Arthur, gave the assurance that concerns and feedback from the public would be submitted to the Government for consideration.

The fair enabled the public to make informed decisions, and appreciate how far the Government had utilized state resources to better the lives of the citizenry as well as know its weakness and shortcomings, to be able to put Government on its toes for accelerated development.

Itafforded opportunity to the people to seek the right information, interact with policy makers and implementers with the view of enhancing policy formulation and review for the development of the region.

The Ministry of Information in collaboration with the regional administration organized the fair on the theme: “Building Together in a Better Ghana.”
