
Techiman (B/A) June 15, GNA - Sulemana Samadu, a 28-year-old notorious criminal who sustained gunshot wounds in a fire exchange between him and the Techiman neighbourhood watchdog committee has died at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital.
Police Chief Superintendent Joseph Antwi Gyau told the Ghana News Agency on Friday that Samadu, alias “Ginsen” allegedly attacked the neighbourhood watchdog committee members on their routine night patrol at Aboagikrom in the municipality on Saturday June 9, year around 0200 hours.
He said the police upon receiving a report from the committee mounted a search for the suspect who was placed on a police wanted list for terrorising, robbing and raping women in the municipality.
Chief Superintendent Gyau said Samadu managed his way to the Holy Family Hospital for medical attention.
He said the police however traced him the hospital where Samadu was arrested but due to his condition he was put under police guard till he died on June 13.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital's morgue for autopsy whilst investigations continue.
Chief Superintendent Gyau recalled that Samadu was on June 9, this year arrested for robbery and rape but he managed to escape from police custody.
