World Bank Lead Economist Meets The Press

The World Bank’s lead economist to Ghana, Mr Sebastien Dassus, is to leave the country for another one after a four-year stay in the country.

The economist has thus scheduled a meeting between him and members of the International Finance and Economic Journalist (IFEJ) on Thursday June 14, 2012 at the World Bank Ghana Office Knowledge Space.

The meeting is to afford the journalist an opportunity to interact and tap into the experience and knowledge of Mr Dassus during his stay in the country.

A circular from the bank to members of IFEJ said “all too soon, his stewardship in Ghana, after four years of hard work, during which Ghana faced some daunting macro economic challenges, is coming to an end.

“He has seen it all and contributed in many ways to Ghana's quick macro economic turnaround since 2008,” it added.

Mr Dassus, according to the circular led the conduct of ground-breaking analytical works and the preparation of the bank’s funding, through a number of Poverty Reduction Support Credits in the country.

Those analytical works and preparations resulted in the disbursement of some US$615 million to the country under the Multi Donor Budget Support process.

The meeting starts at 3:30pm.
