The Gomoa West District Assembly has undertaken 110 projects in three years, out of which 77 have been completed.

Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in Apam, said the projects which formed part of the government’s Better Ghana Agenda were meant to improve the people’s living condition.

He gave the breakdown of the funding agents as Social Investment Fund (SIF), 31 projects; District Development Fund (DDF), 20 projects; District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), 20 projects; GETFund, 19 projects; Local Government Service Development Project (LGSDP), nine; Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) six, and Government of Ghana (GOG), five.

The DCE also said the award of projects on contract had been suspended due to the government’s directive for ongoing projects to be completed before new ones are started.

He mentioned projects the assembly had undertaken as school infrastructure, water and sanitation, health facilities, roads, electricity, markets, rehabilitation of the District Administration block and renovation of staff quarters.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah added that the projects were unprecedented in the history of the district and urged the people to reciprocate the government’s gesture by voting massively to return it to power on December 7.

He said if election was about bringing development to the people, then there was no need to change the President Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) Government which had performed creditably in its three-and-half years administration.

“You don’t bite the finger which feeds you,” the DCE said, and called on Ghanaians to rally behind the government for more projects. - GNA
