Ho, June 2, GNA-Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister, stressed on Friday night that there has been no attempt by the Government to scuttle the June Four Anniversary programme scheduled for Aflao this weekend.
He said what was being done at the Regional Security Committee level was to ensure that the event did not create any situation that would disturb the peace.
Mr Kamel said this in answer to a question during the first media soirée he hosted for journalists in the Region. He assumed office recently.
Some opinion leaders and chiefs at Aflao have issued a statement advising that the venue of the rally, scheduled for the Victory Park on Sunday, be shifted elsewhere, but they have been slammed by others for speaking on their behalf without their authorisation.
Mr Kamel said this apparent split in opinion within the ranks at Aflao and its security implications was the focus of the Regional Security and at no time had there been any attempt to prevent the rally by an administrative fiat or through the Courts.
