Dakar, May 30, 2012 – The United Nations Entity on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) says it is looking forward to partner with NGOs and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) within the ECOWAS region. This foresight and preparedness by UN Women is part of its 2012-2013 strategic plan to strengthen gender equality through partnership.
UN Women in West Africa is thus seeking partnerships with NGOs and other CSO in the region, particularly those based in Senegal, Niger, Guinea Bissau and Ghana, for interventions in the following five key areas:
1. Leadership and Women's Political Participation
2. Economic Empowerment of Women
3. Fight to End Violence against Women
4. Gender, Peace and Security
5. Gender Mainstreaming during planning and budgeting processes at national and local levels.
UN Women is requesting that any legally constituted organization, specializing or interested in Gender and Development, and Human Rights, seeking to partner with the UN gender entity in one or more of the above areas of intervention, is invited to visit the UN Women in West Africa BLOG site to download the following documents:
