
Tafo (E/R), May 31, GNA - Five people, including two men and three women were killed when a Mini-bus and a Tipper truck collided head-on at Osiem in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Nine others sustained various degrees of injury and have been admitted to the Hawa Saviour Memorial Hospital at Osiem.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Yeboah, Tafo District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that the accident occurred at about 12:10 hours on Wednesday.
He said the bus with registration number GR 5071-12 was from Koforidua to Nkawkaw and the Tipper Truck with registration number GR 5317 A, from Osiem heading towards New Tafo.
ASP Yeboah said upon getting to the Osiem- Old Tafo interchange, the driver of the tipper truck, Isaac Yellow, a national of Benin, lost control over the steering wheel and moved from his lane to the other lane and collided with the bus.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Tafo Government hospital Morgue pending autopsy.
