Gbevlo Boys In Cars Drama

Reports available to the Publisher newspaper indicates that some elements within the National Security are using the office to loot cars belonging unsuspecting Ghanaians under the cover of darkness.

Some operatives of the National Security who go and arrest some uncustomed vehicles allegedly allocate the cars to their cronies while some of them use the seized cars without proper gazetting as their personal properties.

According to our credible information, when the cars were arrested, instead of sending the cars to the appropriate authorities for action to be taken, unscrupulous operatives prefer to change the modus of operandi to satisfy their whims and caprices.

Checks conducted revealed that some members of the public are fuming with rage over the actions of the operatives of the national security. They alleged that contrary to the laid down rules where the seized cars should be send to the offices of CEPS, the operatives operating in the name of National Security Task force smartly send the cars to different places.

One peeved car owner said, 'When you go the place especially around Abelenkpe, they may either collect money from you and release the car and sometimes they only snub you. We don't even understand the duplication of works being done under this regime. 'Strangely, some members of the same task force from the National Security use our cars for their personal use,' he alleged.

The car owners are planning to officially petition the National Security Coordinator, Col. (Rtd) Gbevlo Lartey, to investigate the actions of his boys.

The Publisher newspaper has gathered that one of the taskforce member, one Peter Asamoah, is alleged to have used a seized BMW vehicle with registration number GT 2034-11 and was involved in an accident on his way to his village.

According to reports after the accident, he decided to dodge the police but was arrested by the Oda police.

A GNA news reported that the Akim Swedru Police is investigating an accident case involving a BMW Saloon car claimed to belong to national Security and being driven by one Peter Asamoah.

A source at the Akim Swedru Police Commando told the Ghana News Agency that, the BMW was suspected to be an uncustomed vehicle seized in the name of national Security.

He said although Asamoah was using the car as his personal property at the time of the accident, the vehicle was being driven by one Frimpong.

Asamoah was asked by the police to produce the document covering the car and was not able to do so.
