BAPTISM OF FIRE AT GHANA METHODIST CHURCH OF OTTAWA-CANADA

Celebrating the first anniversary of establishing a branch of Ghana Methodist Church in Ottawa-Canada, would have been a fine opportunity for members to don their best clothes, sing in fine tunes, dance non stop to praise music and eat some fine meal to commemorate the occasion.

But no, members of this infant society, dedicated the anniversary day to intensive prayer inviting the Holy Spirit to indwell in them to enable them achieve more success in spreading the word of God far to win souls for him as well as expand the church.

As expected, prayed for backed by faith, the Holy Spirit indeed visited members who gathered at the basement of Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church, 225 McClellan Road, Ottawa on May 27, 2012 which was also marked as Pentecost Sunday.

Leading the prayer section, Reverend Emanuel Ohene Gyimah, who is in charge of the Ghana Methodist Church, Montréal Society with additional role as the overseer of the Ottawa society, called on all gathered for the service to pray for the growth of the church.

Deep in the prayer section he got charged where he invited the Holy Spirit to baptize each and every individual present.” Holy Ghost Fire, come and baptize your children with fire” as he invited the spirit of God repeatedly.

Not too late a big scream was heard among the crowd shouting and speaking in tongues like it happened in the biblical times of Pentecost.

After the service, some members shared their testimony of getting warm, feeling cold at their feet or having their legs wobbled during that section whiles others also said they felt a glowing light even when their eyes were closed.

Preaching the anniversary sermon under the theme” COME HOLY SPIRIT GIVE US LOVE”, Reverend Emanuel Ohene Gyimah, reminded Christians that the spirit of God almighty has not ceased to perform wonders and if one believes in it surely it will perform wonders in his life for all to see.

He observed that, because many Christians have not been baptized by the Holy Ghost Fire, the conflicts in the churches keep destroying God's institution.

But the minister of God challenged that, if members will allow themselves to be baptized by the Holy Spirit Fire, the troubles and infightings in the churches will give way to unity, love and development.

“If fellow Christians will allow the Holy Spirit to baptize them, they shall be gifted with the capability to preach the word of God and also heal the sick people as it happened on the day of Pentecost” he envisioned.

Presenting the first year milestone of the church, Nana Nuamah-Nuamah Mensah, said a year ago the church started with 28 members including children but today has whopping 50 members, has drums, church choir, Men's Fellowship, Women's Fellowship, a Sunday school and a church website www.ghanamethodistottawa.com all achieved within one year.

According to Nana Nuamah-Nuamah Mensah, another significant achievement occurred early this year that was the successful organization of the Black History month by the church as it has decided to make it an annual event to be celebrated in the church.

He appealed to Ghanaians and non Ghanaians alike in and around Ottawa to come and fellowship with them so they can share the blessings of God equally.

In speech read for him by Brother Kofi Kalusha, the supervising minister in church of Canada Mission, Reverend [Dr.] Emanuel Asare-Kusi, congratulated members of the Ottawa church and urged them to press hard to achieve more success in the near future.

Present at the service were a delegation from Ghana Methodist Church of Toronto Men's Fellowship and other society representatives from Montreal Society.
