WFP HOSTS A HANGOUT FROM THE FRONTLINES OF THE SAHEL HUNGER CRISIS

NEW YORK, May 29, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will host a Google “Hangout” from the frontlines of the hunger crisis in the Sahel region of West Africa on Wednesday 30 May at 15.00 NYC / 20.00 London.

WFP Country Director in Niger, Denise Brown, will join CNN Anchor Jim Clancy and a group of bloggers, journalists and supporters around the world for an interactive discussion about WFP's response to hunger in the region.

Other participants include Roger Thurow, Senior Fellow on global agriculture and food policy at the Chicago Council of Global Affairs; Reuters Alertnet humanitarian affairs correspondent for West and Central Africa George Fominyen; and “Mom Bloggers for Social Good” founder Jennifer James.

The Hangout will be broadcast live on WFP's YouTube channel. Viewers will be invited to submit comments and questions on WFP's Google+ page and via Twitter by using the hashtag #food4sahel.
