The 23rd Annual GOIL Seniors Open Golf Championship 2011 ended at Nsuta over the weekend with Mr S.K. Nartey from the Obuasi Golf Club emerging the winner. He was presented with assorted lubricants and cash from GOIL, the sponsors of the competition.

The Managing Director of the Ghana Manganese Company (GMC), at Nsuta, who hosted the event, Mr Jurgen Ecjgendanl, expressed gratitude for the enthusiasm of the golfers who gathered at Nsuta to participate in the 23rd open.

He said GMC, which had been working in the manganese sector over the past 100 years, consciously upgraded the Nsuta Golf Club for the competition and promised to extend the course from nine holes to 18 in due course.

The President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Dr Felix K. Frimpong, commended GOIL for the sponsorship and called on his fellow golfers in sensitive positions in the corporate world to ensure that their companies patronised GOIL products.

Mr Cyril Opon, the Corporate Affairs Manager of GOIL, said over the years GOIL had been satisfied with the activities of the GGA and, therefore, the company decided to sponsor the competition because it wanted to give back to society what it had got from it.

Other winners included Mr D.D. Amponsah in the Men’s Group C and Nii Ayikwei Armah in Group B. Group A winner was Mr I. Quarm from Bogoso Golf Club with Group Captain Gyima Boakye winning the scratch competition.
