CHRISTIAN WOMEN have been urged to take active part in evangelism and outreach programmes to win more souls for Christ.

Rev. Phillip Tutu, an Accra based evangelist made the call when addressing members of the Ghana Congress of Evangelization (GHACOE) Women's Ministry at the launch of its 35 th Annual National Conference in Accra recently.

He stressed the need for Christian women to first target people who claim to be Christians but are mere church goers during their outreach programmes.

The celebration themed 'Arise and shine for your light has come' aimed to inform the public about the group's contributions to Christian evangelism and women empowerment in Ghana.

It was also to encourage Christian women to use their God-given talents to embark on outreach programmes to win more souls for Christ.

He noted the time has come for Christians to realize that it is only through God's grace that they have made it this far, calling on them to work hard to win more souls for Christ.

'If we look at the current unholy behavior among Ghanaians particularly the youth, we should all be aware that it would take only the intervention of God's people like GHACOE members to transform unbelievers.'

Rev. Richard Dentu from the Ghana Evangelical Society on his part called on the women to pray towards a peaceful election, explaining it was only the Almighty God who could bring peace into the country during and after the December 7 general elections.

GHACOE National Executive Director, Comfort Lartey-Ofori said since the ministry's formation in 1983, its mission of evangelization had widened and that many members had not only been healed spiritually, but also trained to acquire income generation skills including batik, tie-and-dye, soap, dressmaking and bead making.

Florence Engmann, first Director of the group explained that it was the duty of the ministry to support Ghanaians both spiritually and socially.

She noted that it had been the responsibility of GHACOE to give training to the needy and ensure that after transforming their lives they become financially sound.

The national conference is scheduled to start on August 2 and ends on August 6, 2012.
