China Europe Business School to launch leadership programme
The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) will launch its Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership for Africa (WELA) Programme in Ghana on June 1, 2012.
The inaugural ceremony will serve as a pilot project out of CEIBS’ Osei Tutu Centre For Executive Education and Research in Kumasi.
The objective is to offer subsequent programmes in selected African countries, such as Nigeria.
WELA is a seven-module programme that provides significant interaction with Chinese women entrepreneurs, as well as a one-year Entrepreneurship Coaching Assignment.
WELA also seeks to empower participants with the mindset and strategies necessary to effectively manage their firms and their individual entrepreneurial careers.
The programme further seeks to launch significant, scalable African enterprises with the scope to have substantial economic impact by providing practical education, training and mentoring to support women entrepreneurs in the development and launch of new businesses.
One key component will be a local bank’s acceptance of the programme certificate as collateral for a business development loan and participation in the bank’s financial literacy programmes.
CEIBS will provide the core faculty for the delivery of the programme and, where appropriate, this will be supplemented with resources from other business schools or corporations.
Participants of the WELA programme will benefit from ‘Action Learning’ by utilising interactive case studies, exercises, simulations and presentations, as well as ‘Team-based learning and collaboration’, where emphasis will be placed on group work and interaction among participants.
They will also benefit from ‘Leadership and Coaching Development’ where there will be a focus on developing and sharpening the leadership skills and classs of participants, in addition to being exposed to the approaches used by both their peers and Chinese women entrepreneurs whom they will meet in China during the final immersion module.
Participants will again gain from an ‘Innovative Spirit’, where they will develop the expertise needed to envision new ways to improve their enterprises and also ‘networking throughout the programme’ and participants are expected to meet and interact with other accomplished and budding women entrepreneurs in Africa and China (during the immersion module).
This will provide an opportunity to build connections and life-long friendships that could be invaluable to their businesses.
CEIBS offers a unique combination of “China Depth, Global Breadth” – taking advantage of its position as a leading business school in Asia to train responsible leaders.
Its vision is to become the most respected international business school by linking East and West in teaching, research, and business practice and by promoting China’s social and economic development through high-impact knowledge creation and dissemination.
Launched in 2009, CEIBS Africa Programme aims to educate highly competent, innovation-oriented managers and executives who are capable of leading and growing their organisations in the increasingly dynamic African economic environment, and who are capable of negotiating the forces of globalisation, international competition and cooperation for the benefit of their organisations.
The programme aimed to educate African business leaders and their international peers interested in African business, to enhance the commercial links between Africa, Asia and the world at large.
