Let's maintain and sustain the prevailing peace - Akuapem South MCE

By GNA

Nsawam (E/R), May 22, GNA – Mr Amoako Dompreh, Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem South, has called on Ghanaians to do their best to maintain and sustain the prevailing peace in the country.

“We are all aware that this year is election year and we should not do acts that will bring any injury to other people who do not share our views,” he said.

Mr Dompreh said this when addressing assembly members on activities that had taken place and plans for the municipality for the rest of the year at their first ordinary meeting at Nsawam over the weekend.

He said in keeping with the “Better Ghana agenda”, government would expand the Rural Enterprises Programme to include as many assemblies as possible to train and resource beneficiaries to establish their small to medium scale enterprises.

He said in that vein, the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly is required to provide at least two offices and officers who must be holding tertiary qualifications to manage the programme.

The Duayeden Junior High School is in a deplorable state and a death trap to both pupils and teachers and that it is being provided with a new school block but “unfortunately for some time now the new project has come to a halt,” the DCE said.

Mr Dompreh said soon the Municipality would have an ambulance centre at Nsawam and that there was the need for the construction of a car port at the premises of the Fire Service for work to begin.

On decentralization, he said, the municipality would be divided into two and that most likely in June the new assemblies would be inaugurated.

He expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Buabeng and his men who he said have worked with other security agencies tirelessly to ensure security in the area.
