The African Development Bank (AfDB) will host the 2012 launch of the African Economic Outlook (AEO), a joint annual report from the AfDB, the OECD Development Centre, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) on Monday, 28th May 2012 during the AfDB Annual Meetings.

Mthuli Ncube, AfDB Chief Economist and Vice President, Mario Pezzini, Director of the OECD Development Centre, Stephen Karingi , Director of the regional integration and trade division of UNECA and Tegegnework Gettu , Director of the Regional bureau for Africa from UNDP, will be on hand to discuss:

 Africa's economic performance in 2011 and its growth prospects in 2012

 Africa's fastest and slowest growing countries in 2011

 Youth employment and the shortage of good jobs

The African Economic Outlook 2012 presents a comprehensive analysis of the economic, social and political developments in the region. It includes in-depth country notes on 53 of the continent's 54 economies, a macroeconomic overview, and a special study on the promotion of youth employment.
