Nsawam, May 22, GNA – The Executive Committee of the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly had approved GHc14, 980 to clear the backlog of Best Teacher Award winners in the past years in the area.
Mr Amoako Dompreh, Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem South who said this at the Assembly's first ordinary meeting at Nsawam, said for some years now best teachers have not received awards and that there was a huge backlog to be cleared to motivate the teachers.
He said the situation had been caused by certain emergencies such as the cholera outbreak and others and that funds would be released as soon as possible for the ceremony to take place.
“It is also necessary that we recognize and reward our workers and other employees in other departments in order to motivate them to perform better,” Mr Dompreh said.
Mr Dompreh said the Member of Parliament, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah together with the Assembly had co-sponsored the Best Teacher Award for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
