NDC Doomed – Says Adams
The suspended Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has observed that all the schemes to destroy the founder of the party, JJ Rawlings and his family, will spell doom for the party.
Mr. Adams, who was speaking on Accra-based Adom FM Monday morning, also named two leading members of the party as persons whose activities put the founder off.
He warned the NDC hierarchy not to think that their plans weren't known, saying that 'we have seen this, we have read many documents and meetings' about the scheme.
He stressed that Rawlings was not 'daft' nor a 'fool' and was aware of everything and that no sweet talks would change that.
He dispelled allegations that the ex-president was working with the NPP, saying all those who found fault with the NDC and the government were tagged by the NDC as being with the NPP.
He announced that this year's June 4th parade will be held in Accra and Aflao in the Volta Region.
The aide to the former president named the acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Sam Pee Yalley, and the former Spokesperson of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), Osahene Boakye Gyan, as two personalities in the NDC who he regarded as typical examples of the 'greedy bastards' his boss referred to.
He also added that there were others in even more strategic positions in the Mills-led government.
According to him, Rawlings regarded these two and others as being opportunists who only wanted to milk the nation at the expense of the NDC party.
More so, they were part of a grand scheme to spite Rawlings and destroy the NDC party and eventually make way for a new political party.
He said Sam Pee Yalley was nowhere to be found when the party was in opposition, yet after NDC won the 2008 elections, he emerged and sought to be voted as a member of the Council of State from the Central Region, yet party members, chiefs and people in the region rejected him.
He added, 'If we are talking about greedy bastards, he will be in the list, he shouldn't even challenge it at all.'
Mr. Adams noted that Mr. Pee Yalley, after going into hiding, could now mount various radio stations to talk against Rawlings just to win favour in the Mills administration, alongside others who he said were working hard to eliminate the founder and his followers from the party.
Mr. Adams said although it was good to bring old members back to the fold, it should not be done with the intention of spiting the former president.
He made reference to a 2009 Wikileaks report, which according to him stated that there were elements in the NDC party and government who had plans to deal with Rawlings and were scheming to turn the NDC into CPP.
According to him, the scheme 'is being implemented which include the return of the Osahen Boakye Gyan as part of an agenda, bring him and when he comes he will pursue an agenda to help destroy Jerry Rawlings.'
