Ghana Post Launches New Product
Ghana Post, in collaboration with Afric Xpress, has initiated a system that would enhance the payment of bills in the country.
Kofi Nyantakyi, Board Director of Ghana Post, who launched the system, explained that the TXT N Pay service offers the public the greatest opportunity to also top-up and transfer credit on all telecommunication networks without the hassle and frustrations usually associated with monetary transactions.
He said business customers could transact business with Ghana Post through the TXT N Pay, DStv bill payment, Vodafone bill payment, Landline, Post Paid, Broad band, Airtime top-up, I burst top-up SKYY TV, Airtime top-up and bulk airtime purchase for MTN.
The system, he said, would create business opportunities for anyone wishing to do business with them because Ghana Post branches could be found all over the country.
Mr. Nyantakyi noted that the launch was as a result of technological sophistication and advances that 'now dictates how we conduct our lives and businesses'.
The Managing Director (MD) of Ghana Post, Abdulai Abdul Rafill, on his part, stated that currently the service is being piloted in 50 selected post offices in the country, adding that it would be extended to all Post Offices across the country in the near future.
'Afric Xpress, our partner in this collaboration, has provided the platform for the collection and tracking of all payments at the post office to prevent fraud in the transaction'.
Mr. Rafill reiterated that with the introduction of the service, customer traffic at post offices would certainly decrease and added that the system would positively attract other services which the Post Office is rendering.
'Management will therefore continue to promote postal reforms because we believe a strong postal service can stimulate and foster economic expansion in the country'.
Mahama Yussif, Channel Development Manager of Afric Xpress, said with the explosion of telecommunication and the increasing sophistication of the market, businesses are looking for innovative applications, coupled with a solid technology based distribution network that uses devices such as cell phones, computers ATM's and many others.
He therefore commended Ghana Post for its foresight.
