CODEO Lauds CPP For Successful Congress
The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), has congratulated the National Executive and members of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) for successfully organising their just-ended national delegates’ conference.
CODEO commended in particular “the peaceful and violence-free manner in which the congress was held”.
In a report issued to the media, CODEO also congratulated the party on “conducting its presidential primaries in a manner that was free, fair and transparent.
As the coalition observed, the elections were held without fear, intimidation and notable incidents or violence. CODEO believes that this is a mark that all democratic political parties should strive to achieve at all times”, the CODEO statement noted.
CODEO further commended the two main presidential candidates, Dr Abu Sakara and Lawyer Bright Akwetey for conducting themselves in a civil manner during their election campaigns.
CODEO congratulated Dr Sakara on winning the elections, while it praised Mr Akwetey for accepting the results of the elections in a manner consistent with democratic practices.
The organisation congratulated other key stakeholders such as the Electoral Commission and the security agencies for discharging their duties in a professional manner that contributed to the success of the conference.
