Sekondi Methodist Senior High School appeals for assistance

Accra, May 19, GNA - Mr. Paul Kweku Awortwi, headmaster of the Sekondi Methodist Senior High School, has called on Government, individuals, non-governmental organizations and the alumni of the school, to come to the aid of the educational institution, to promote teaching and learning.

He lamented the lack of adequate science laboratory, vehicle and accommodation for staff and students, and stressed that teachers lived in various parts of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis, which was hampering academic work.

Mr Awortwi, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra at the weekend, said that despite the problems, the school had prospects because it would be used as campus for the Methodist University, for the Western Region.

He announced that the school would celebrate its 27 years anniversary on the theme: "27 Years of Existence: Challenges and Prospects," soon.

Mr Awortwi said the school had produced excellent academic and sports records, and cited that some of its students were part of the National Youth Hockey team that would represent Ghana in a competition in South Africa.

He commended the teachers and students for their hard work, which had raised the image of the school.
