
Eshireso (W/R), May 16, GNA—Tragedy struck Eshireso, near Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District when 35-year-old Francis Appiah drowned in a pit left by illegal gold diggers.
According to the Western regional Crime Officer, Mr. James Kofi Abraham, the deceased went to swim in the abandoned pit on May 8 and expressed worry over constant cases of people drowning in abandoned pits.
He appealed to small scale miners to leave pits uncovered.
