Moving Ghana beyond mediocracy Vrs Ziblim's ideas

I had stream of ideas flowing through the valley of my mind and I really had trouble starting with something. Am just a common Ghanaian. Very young ghanaian and just like many others or probably few others, have frustrations with the current state of our development, ghana's development.

I am not not a kind of pessimist. I have hopes for this country. However, we seem to be contented with mediocracy and lack of ideas on how to transform our resources into real fortunes. From the average man to the top most leadership, everything seems to be falling apart.

Go to the ministries and most of water-closets are not working, most of the louvres are broken and walls so dilapidated with flaking pre-colonial paints. Personnel eat savories on shaky office table.

From one media house to the other, there is a new policy song, sang through the airwaves; getting the youth into agriculture. Farm with what? After my university education, learning about all those implements, about mechanized farming, you still expect me to go clearing the land with the same obsolete technics and equipment used by my fore-fathers? We use to have extension officers in every farming community. Where are they now? Fisher men still use fine nets, DDT and dynamites to fish. If the law enforcing bodies together with ministery of Agriculture do not sit up, then we will go further down the line.

Our hospitals lack facilities and yet the Government kept changing minister after minister with the same problem persisting. Ghanaians as we are do not see anything wrong with poor health delivery. We can demonstrate against the arrest of a party faithful. Sometimes, you wonder where the people assembled. However, we do not complain or demonstrate against lack of health personnel, beds and modern facilities in our hospitals. We do not see anything wrong with choked gutters, poor sanitation and lawlessness. Drivers still drink and drive, armed robbers are attacking people and our security personnel looked helpless. Even the passengers watch the driver makes phone calls whislt driving and no one complains. Our roads in a year kills more than bokko haram did from it's inception. Only platforms are mounted to talk about it and sitting allowances paid.

When the lights goes out, we talk to the president. When a bridge breaks, the president. When water is not flowing through the taps, the president. Why? Is there not somebody responsible? Is there not assemblyman, DCE, MP, and a minister responsible? The president should be last person to complain to.

The educational system is appalling. The pupils are guinea pigs and the class rooms, laboratories. Every experiment can be done.

Let's begin to educate ourselves. If we know our rights, we can always demand that from our leaders. Get involve in whatever politics going on and learn from it. Do not off the radio when it's time for news broadcast. Follow the trends and learn. Take the security services on for your security because you pay them for that. And when you know your rights, you shall not accept anything less. There should not be improvising of materials in our hospitals after 55years of independence. Why do we have to refer to Dr Nkrumah for solution and also to relent on our mediocracyies? Why can't we have many or even one Nkrumah today? Is it that our leaders stomachs are now thinking more than their brains? You guess is as good as mine. Nationality should guide all of us. Make it your friend and the value would be tremendous.
