The Trophy For The Political Tolerance Soccer Gala

The Accra Sports Stadium will this weekend host the various political parties who are set to play a football gala.

The match, which is being organized by Pro-Image Communications, is part of moves to ensure peaceful elections come December 2012 when Ghana heads for the polls.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pro-Image of Communications, Nathaniel Ebo Nsarko, has called on politicians and peace loving Ghanaians, especially the media, to continue to strive to nurture, grow and develop peace and unity in order to build a strong nation for generations yet unborn.

This, he said, was because it would be shameful and a mark of irresponsibility on the part of the present generation if they failed to bequeath a happier and united Ghana to the next generations.

This was when he out-doored a decorated trophy for the much-publicized political tolerance soccer gala which is slated for the Accra Sports Stadium tomorrow, May 13, 2012.

He cautioned politicians and the media to desist from fuelling tensions and creating unnecessary rivalry that had the potential to disturb the wind of peace and unity blowing in Ghana today.

The 'political tolerance soccer gala 2012' is a symbolic match between political parties on one hand and amalgamated groups on the other hand. It is intended to create tolerance awareness and the need to tolerate each other's views irrespective of their divergent views and opinions.

The gala's major objective is to douse the growing tension emanating from political activities.

Mr. Nsarko told journalists that the bubbles of tension today had the potential to escalate to a point where it would be too difficult to quench, hence the need for all to take interest in ensuring that the peace in the country is protected and consolidated.

He also advised politicians to avoid hate speeches, insults and statements that would spark ethnocentrism, adding that they should allow tolerance to take the lead in every discourse that would bring development to the nation.

So far, all the political parties have acceded to a pact to play a role in ensuring that Ghana's peace remains intact and unscathed.

Leading members of the two main political parties, including their presidential candidates, have agreed to participate in this epic event to send a signal to their supporters that Ghana's peace and unity was the most significant ingredient for their quest for accelerated growth.
