Agona East NDC Youth Debunk Allegation Against Ahwoi
The concerned youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Agona East Constituency have said the party must elect a candidate who will be able to wrest the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, come 2012.
They said Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture, had Agona East at heart and was capable of delivering if given the nod.
Reacting to the allegation that Mr Ahwoi had stolen electricity poles at Mankrong-Junction, the group said the allegation was designed and orchestrated by some other contestants.
This was contained in a press release issued and signed by Mr Kofi Buabeng, secretary of the concerned youth at Agona Swedru.
The youth, therefore, apologised to Mr Ahwoi.
According to them, the allegation was made to coincide with the time Mr Ahwoi was out of the country on official duties and could not immediately have the chance to respond.
The youth contended that the idea was to smear the minister and tarnish his reputation because he stood tall among the other contestants.
They pointed at Madam Pokuaah Sawyer who is also aspiring to become parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Agona East for the alleged publication.
When Madam Pokuaah Sawyer was contacted, she denied all allegations made against her by the youth.
She said it was a calculated attempt to divert her attention, throw dust into the eyes of NDC delegates and the entire members of the party.
Madam Pokuaah Sawyer said this unhealthy competition would not help the growth of the NDC in the up coming 2012 elections.— GNA
