The Convention People's Party's Presidential contender, Emmanuel Bright Akwetey says contrary to popular assertions, he has no hand in the eventual departure of the party's former flag bearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom from the party.

“I did not sack him. He had said it before that he will leave should Samia win the Chairmanship slot and he did. Now there is peace and harmony in the party because he is out”, Mr. Akwetey told Nii Arday Clegg when he appeared on Joy News Television's current affairs programme, pm: EXPRESS.

Mr. Akwetey rejected suggestions for a return of Dr. Nduom to the CPP saying “we don't accept him. His return will re-introduce indiscipline in the party”.

This was after he had made an appeal on all Nkrumaists and former members of the CPP to return.

Mr. Akwetey who sounded very antagonistic took a swipe at the former Minister for Public Sector Reforms saying “if I was in my olden days when I was a public prosecutor, I'll not stand with him on the same platform. If I were in Ghana in 1996, I might have prosecuted him and therefore would not give him that credibility (and) respect that he will require from me”.

Dr. Ndoum left the CPP after series of bickering among the party's leading members to form the Progressive People's Party.

Bright Akwetey who is seeking the flag bearership slot of the CPP for the second time believes his years of work with government places him above his only contender, Dr. Abu Sakara.

“I am more versatile, more matured. I have worked with government and if you have worked with government before you don't answer any question you are asked”.

He disagreed with the assertion that either the NPP or NDC will win the December polls because for him, the two parties preach tribalism and are poor in governance.

“There will be political Tsunami, a revolutionary political shift in this country. You sold Ashanti Gold. Do you want me to applaud you? You use state resources to buy gold chain and say decorate me when children are studying under trees and you want me to applaud you?”

A lawyer by profession, Bright Akwetey has served in different capacities relating to law in Ghana and in The Gambia.

He is the first black President of the International Students Movement of the United Nations (ISMUN) based in Geneva, Switzerland.

An avowed socialist, Mr. Akwetey has been involved in a number of legal battles over the illegal sale of Ga Lands.

He is an ardent supporter of Accra Hearts of Oak and a founding member of the Ghana United Nations Students and Youth Association (GUNSA).
