Takinta (W/R) May 9, GNA -The government has approved the payment of compensation to farmers in the Jomoro District who have been affected by the construction of the Domunli Gas Project in the area.
The Jomoro District Chief Executive, Sylvester Dadieh made this known at a meeting with some of the beneficiary farmers at Takinta on Monday.
According to Mr Dadieh, payment of the compensation to those whose farmers had been destroyed would start very soon and therefore appealed to them to exercise restraint.
Mr Dadieh urged drivers to learn to operate heavy duty machines and vehicles to enable them to get employment at the project.
Drivers in the area with knowledge in fork-lifting, bulldozers, excavators and other heavy duty vehicles would be considered before those from outside, he said.
The decision, the DCE said would help reduce the situation where most of them faced residential accommodation problems.
