Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson has projected that the 8,000 multiple registration detected by the Electoral Commission in the just ended biometric registration exercise could be more.
Mr. Epshon said the current data put out by the EC were from a few of the equipment on which the data was recorded, which means that many more of such offences may have been committed in other area.
He said he will not be surprised if the figure for multiple registration shot up to twelve thousand (12,000) after the register is thoroughly cleaned.
The Electoral Commission released a provisional figure of over 12,000,000 prospective voters who have registered in the 40-day registration exercise which ended last Saturday.
The pollster said on Adom Fm's Dwaso Nsem on Monday that the provisional figure of twelve million (12,000,000) names recorded in the newly compiled register, could mean that close to one million ghost names may have been removed from the register.
Ben Ephson however cautioned that the biometric registration may not be the panacea to vote rigging stressing that vigilance by the political parties on election day will greatly help in checking electoral malpractices.
