Adenta records peaceful biometric registration exercise
Accra, May 6, GNA - Mr Courage Abiwu, a District Educator and observer for the Biometric Voter Registration exercise within the Adenta Constituency, says basically, the exercise was "smooth" in the area.
Mr Abiwu said he believed the peaceful atmosphere that generally prevailed in the various registration centres within the constituency, was basically due to the fact that party agents related very well with registration observers.
"The only problems we faced were the occasional break-down of biometric machines, which on one occasion halted the exercise in one registration centre for a whole day," he said adding, "I estimate that about 85 per cent of eligible voters within the constituency had registered," he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.
"Definitely there might be some people who may have postponed their registration and finally realised that circumstances made it impossible for them to register towards the end of the exercise. Others might have been prevented by unavoidable reasons," he said.
