
Fijai (W/R), May5, GNA - A Naval officer with the Western Naval Command in Sekondi, Leading Seaman Jakpah Peter Adams, met his untimely death in a motor accident at Fijai, near Takoradi.
The police said the deceased was riding an unregistered Royal Motor Bike with two pillion riders heading from Fijai towards Anaji.
The Regional Police Crime Officer, Mr, James Kofi Abraham told the GNA in Sekondi that Jakpah's motor bike collided with a Fortune Toyota Private car with registration number GW5202Y driven by Madam Judith Baaba Arthur.
The police said the naval officer sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital but died on arrival.
The corpse had been deposited at the mortuary pending autopsy.
The police said the two pillion riders,Abeiku Acquah, 35 and Jakpah Junior,5, the son of the deceased also sustained injuries and were hospitalised at the same health facility.
The driver of the vehicle, Madam Arthur was arrested and charged with careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.
She was however released on bail while police investigation is underway.
