Mr Kanga, who went on compulsory retirement on April 29, 2012, after 19 years of service was at the Osu Castle, Accra, at the invitation of the President.
President Mills thanked Mr Kanga for his service, and his family for supporting him.
The President appealed to Mr Kanga not to forget entirely the EC, but assist the Commission with his rich and valuable experience in electoral matters, assuring him of government’s support when the need arose.
President Mills wished the Deputy Commissioner of EC a happy retirement.
Mr Kanga thanked the President for the honour done him by the invitation and commendation.
He reminisced about his 19 years service, and said there were a lot of things he could count as achievements, despite his service period seeming just like two days.
Meanwhile, President Mills has appointed Mr Sulley Amadou, Deputy Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Commission to occupy Mr Kanga's former position.
